Project Overview

The United Kingdom has established itself as one of the most advanced and investable battery energy storage system (BESS) markets in Europe. Britain’s battery capacity has grown from just 10 MW to nearly 7 GW in under a decade, now surpassing the headline capacity of the entire nuclear fleet. The National Energy System Operator (NESO) estimates the UK needs 23–27 GW of battery storage by 2030 to support the government‘s Clean Power 2030 ambitions, where 95% of the UK’s electricity will be provided by clean energy sources.

The client, a medium-sized commercial facility with high daytime energy consumption, faced persistent challenges: rising electricity costs, exposure to peak demand tariffs, and a desire to reduce reliance on the grid while supporting the UK‘s energy transition.
