Kuwait’s harsh desert climate makes indoor farming energy-intensive, while the country’s electricity grid faces seasonal peak demand challenges that can lead to power shortages. The client – a major vegetable producer supplying local markets – needed a reliable, cost-effective power solution to protect their year-round production.

Kuwait is accelerating its renewable energy transition. The country is moving forward with major solar projects including the 1.1GW Al Dibdibah and Al Shagaya Phase III project, and the Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) is already integrating battery storage into its solar operations to enable 24-hour clean energy. The Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy (MEWRE) is actively seeking energy storage solutions to prevent power shortages, with capacities ranging from 400 to 500 MW or more.
